Task 2 : Composition

TUTORIAL & PRACTICAL

Week 4 //
"Place your Vormator character into a Pokemon card composition, incorporating foreground, midground, and background elements. You may also create a new shape not bound by the vormator rules or shapes. You may also come up with a new character that does is not bound by the vormator shapes."
I decided to create a new character instead of using the same character from task 1 for task 2. The inspiration of the new character is based on the "Mike" from the cartoon movie "Monster Inc.".

Then, I started sketching the composition using one of the Framed Ink image as reference.

Week 5 //

I searched for the Pokemon Card template and learned that there are a lot of elements in Pokemon Card. I decided to choose the water element for my Pokemon character.

For my color selection, I used the color in my color palette created by using the color picker (I) to pick the color from my researched image, and applied the colors in my composition.

REFLECTION

Experience
For this task, I decided to create a new character because there weren’t any limits on shapes, which gave me more freedom to experiment. I also wasn’t completely happy with my previous design, so this was a chance to try again and improve. I also spent time experimenting with colors, layouts, and fonts for the Pokémon card to make everything fit better visually. The process of creating "Nerasyn" helped me learn more about character design and storytelling.

Observations
I noticed that details make a big difference in how a character feels and looks. Before this, I didn’t really pay much attention to shapes or small elements, but while working on this project, I started focusing more on how each shape affects the character’s personality. I also learned how important fonts and colors are, and I kept testing different styles until I found what worked best.

Findings
This task taught me that designing a character isn’t just about making it look nice, it’s about telling a story through the design. I also realized how trying different ideas and paying attention to details can make a big impact. Overall, this project helped me build my design skills and made me more confident in experimenting with new ideas.
