Figure 2.1 Graphic design work from Pinterest #1
Description :
- I like this design because it has a strong colour contrast. The designer uses red and blue colour combinations that create striking and dynamic design. Also, the arrangement of the elements are very simple and neat.
Figure 2.2 Graphic design work from Pinterest #2
Description :
- In this work, the designer expresses the message and idea with the typography. The large and bold font choice shows the stability, while the reflected and distorted text elements at the bottom visually simulate the effect of reflection in the water.
Figure 2.3 Graphic design work from Pinterest #3
Description :
- The element of Y2K has become very famous in recent years. Black, being a strong neutral color, contrasts sharply with violet. When used together, black and violet presents to the audiences a modern, high-tech, or futuristic feel, showcasing a sense of speed and cutting-edge technology. I like how the designer maximized the whole piece, but it still looks neat.
REFLECTION
THE SHOW : Graduate Showcase
Figure 3.1 THE SHOW poster
I participated in the mural competition for the Graduate Showcase. Although our group did not end up winning the prizes, I am still happy and glad that I chose to be involved in this competition because I learnt a lot from this. For example, I learned the importance of a teamwork spirit. We were asked to paint a mural on two sheets of paper with the theme “Unity through Diversity”.
My group mates and I brainstormed a lot of ideas and finally chose to draw the earth in the middle, we drew the flags of various countries on the 'land' of the earth on the left side to signify world peace. For the other half of the earth we drew the peace symbol and painted it rainbow in color, which I think the color rainbow is full of hope. Next to it we drew the landmarks of each country and on the other side we drew a dove of peace. In addition, we also drew several pairs of hands with different skin colors holding the earth together to show we all have the same rights regardless of race or color. Besides, there were also students from other countries in our group, we learnt from each other about the different cultures.
But I was surprised that our group got a special mention. When Ms. Anis asked us about our concept and I answered 'love and peace'. All in all, it was a very interesting and fun event.
